| For over 25 years the Shawano Specialty Papers mill has
been a major supplier of paper for coffee filters. The mill
prides itself on our knowledge and experience in the coffee filter market
to engineer the highest quality products. We offer bleached and unbleached
(natural) papers to service both basket and cone (stitch) coffee filter
applications. A key component in the design of coffee filter papers is
the cellulose based pulp fibers selected. Shawano Specialty Papers (SSP)
is a non-integrated paper producer, purchasing all of the pulp raw
material on the open market. This is a benefit in selecting the optimal
base fibers for coffee filter applications.
Our high-speed computer controlled wet crepe filter paper machine allows for precise control over key strength, density, pore size and flow rate properties. SSP’s unique proprietary wet-creped filter media meets all the converters processing needs and offers the consumer the convenience of excellent filter separation. The SSP coffee filter grade mix includes a wide range of basis weights & flow rates. We produce 16# to 35# papers ranging from regular flow (5 to 10 minute brew) to fast flow (3 minute brew) filters for the full range of basket and cone filter machines manufactured for commercial and home use.
